Galp participates in co-creation initiative with EIC Green House Gas Programme

The European Innovation Council and Galp, as its business partner, put together a joint EIC GHG Co-creation initiative.

The European Innovation Council Greenhouse Gas Programme focuses on achieving carbon neutrality and offers SMEs a tool to assess a company’s carbon footprint, suggesting improvement measures, and working groups with different EIC beneficiaries.

Within this scope, the European Innovation Council and Galp, as its business partner, put together a joint EIC GHG Co-creation initiative. Galp launched two challenges, to identify innovative and scalable solutions:

Challenge 1 – Real-time CO2 emissions monitoring

  • A solution that could directly measure CHG emissions – a platform to collect and analyze real-time data, while enabling reporting and creating scenarios with mitigation potential.

Challenge 2 – Right2Plug: Promote on-street EV charging for users without access to home charging

  • A data analytics visualization tool to identify Iberian residential areas without access to home charging and simulate the necessary charging points and their expected occupancy rate.

  • An innovative concept of public charging focused on residential users, including hardware and software, to facilitate the charging process for the end-user and integration with municipalities.

After the selection process and the co-creation training, a two-day ideation event took place on the 14th and 15th of September. This was a chance for participants to get help from Galp mentors, define a roadmap with their next steps, and start co-developing their solutions with Galp.

The Iteration & Development phase came afterwards and lasted for three months. Participants implemented the roadmap with support from Galp and validated it regularly to ensure they were steering in the right direction. The co-creation ended on December 7th, with the GHG Summit, which highlighted success stories.

The focus on co-creation enabled the dialogue between Galp and the participants to be productive and seamless, with several chances for debating ideas. While participating in the EIC GHG Programme, Galp worked closely with entrepreneurs on solutions with exciting potential.
