PORTUGAL'S FIRST AGRI-PV PILOT IN A VINEYARD | AgriPV, ISA

The pilot aims to test the potential of photovoltaic technology as an adaptation measure to attenuate some of the negative consequences of climate change in the wine production sector.

Startup name/ Name of project:
AgriPV pilot in a vineyard, in collaboration with Rem Tec, and ISA

Technology used:
Photovoltaic (PV)

Project’s duration:
Three years, starting in October 2024

Status:
Not started

Project’s location:
Tapada da Ajuda, Lisbon

Small project description:
The pilot aims to test the potential of photovoltaic technology as an adaptation measure to attenuate some of the negative consequences of climate change in the wine production sector. By partially or totally covering the vineyard with solar panels, the levels of radiation to which the plants are exposed will fall. This will then give rise to positive responses regarding vegetative and reproductive development, as well as the quality of the grapes and wine. This innovative project features 288 panels, 12 trackers, and 130 kWp power. These panels will also be used to produce energy to supply part of the electricity demand at ISA. If the results of this experiment are positive, the tests will be extended to other varieties.
