Galp and NOVA sign protocol for the development of new solutions for clean and renewable energies
On April 13th, Georgios Papadimitriou, COO responsible for the areas of Renewable Energy and New Business, and Ana Casaca, Global Head of Innovation at Galp, attended the ceremony to sign the protocol with NOVA University of Lisbon, which was represented by João Sàágua, Rector, and Isabel Rocha, Vice-Rector.
The protocol aims to develop research projects in areas such as Renewable Energy, Mobility, and Batteries. In the area of innovation and entrepreneurship, students, professors, and researchers from NOVA will be invited to participate in idea contests, hackathons, and develop proof of concepts in response to challenges launched by Galp.
In addition to research and innovation, this protocol will allow for the development of joint initiatives in the field of education, as well as the promotion of talent and employment in the energy sector.
Ana Casaca highlights the importance of collaboration with the academic ecosystem: “Half of the technologies that will help us decarbonize the world and make the energy transition are still unknown or untested. Collaboration with universities and the expansion of our innovation ecosystem is essential for Galp to overcome these technological challenges, thus getting closer to the goal of carbon neutrality in 2050 and the democratization of sustainable and inclusive energy solutions demanded by society.”
